Data Licensing

Government Data

Most data inputs are from US government sources (EIA, EPA, FERC, etc.), which should not be subject to copyright in the US under 17 U.S.C. ยง 105.

Third-Party Data

  • Hourly FERC demand data: Cleaned using techniques developed by Tyler Ruggles and David Farnham, and allocated to regions using methods developed by Catalyst Cooperative
  • Hourly generation profiles: Created by Vibrant Clean Energy and provided without usage restrictions
  • NREL ATB data: Available under NREL's standard data license

PowerGenome Outputs

All PowerGenome data outputs are released under the CC-BY-4.0 license.
